The first City of Lincoln 10k Road Race took place in 1997 and attracted 200 runners. Since then, the race has grown in both size and presence amongst sporting event calendars. In 2011 the maximum entry level of 5,500 runners was reached.
Competitors are now global in origin, coming from all walks of life and compete internationally, nationally, regionally and for County and Club level. Thousands of fun runners also take part hoping to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity.
As part of the 10K Roadrace there is also a 3km Buggy Push Race, 3km Primary School Race and a 4.05km Secondary School Race.
Not only is the 10k Road Race a great event when it comes to motivating people to get active and do more exercise, it also brings the local communities together.
