16th Annual Active Nation Lincoln 10K Road Race

to go | Sunday 25th March 2012 - 11am start

Charities

Each year we support a charity during the 10K and recommend to runners they raise money for them. This year the decision was made by our portfolio holder to support two charities. Although many applied, please see below the two that were chosen.

 Princes Trust Red

In Lincoln, around one in four young people is struggling to find a job. Unemployment can have a knock-on effect on a young person’s confidence and mental health, with many young people who are out of work suffering from self loathing and depression.

Youth charity The Prince’s Trust helps these young people to turn their lives around. It provides practical and financial support, giving the UK’s most vulnerable young people the confidence and skills to find a job.

The Prince’s Trust will help 50,000 young people this year, and needs almost £1 million pounds a week to continue its vital work. Your support will give disadvantaged young people the confidence and skills to get their lives back on track.

Further information about The Prince’s Trust is available on their website or by calling 0800 842 842

  1. hi my first time running in any event an in will be running for the royal air force benvolent fund if thats ok

  2. Hi there, I am thinking about entering this as a personal goal but also to help my 15 year old son raise money for a 4 week expedition to Borneo with his school. 41% of the funds he raises goes to communtiy, environmental and ecological cause in Borneo. During his time in Borneo his team will work on community projects such as building water storage tanks, teaching children in local schools and environmental projects including planting trees to aid re-forestation. Also they will be spending time doing marine litter clearance on an island just off Borneo. Is this the sort of thing you would refer to as a cause that we can be sponsored for?

      Hi Samantha,

If you contact 10keventofficer@lincoln.gov.uk I will forward your email to the race organiser. The charity will need to apply in writing, all the applications are forwarded to the Sport and Leisure Portfolio Holder, who makes the final decision.

  6. Next Year can the Charity of the Year be ‘Alzheimer’s Society’? Only I work with so many people who have dementia and it would be good to raise awareness of the charity and the work they do.
Can people in Lincoln vote on the Charity next year?
